I have read the first three chapters in the book "The Thief Lord" by Cornelia Funke. Bo and his brother Prosper have run away from their aunt and uncle, and made it to Vince, the city of canals. Their aunt and uncle have contacted a private detective to try and find them, but he is not having that good of luck finding them, due to the fact that they live in an empty theater that was abandoned years ago. They live off the money they get from selling valuables the "Thief Lord" steals.
I am amazed with the way the author describes every detail, big or small, from the way Bo hops from one stone to the other, to the amazing abandoned theater that they call home. I think that this is as amazing as the Harry Potter series, maybe even more so. The author will leave you hanging at the end of each and every chapter.
